Zip line tour

The tour begins as you jump on a bench in the back of an old diesel truck and ride the bumpy dirt roads through African palm plantations outside Quepos. Along the way, guides point out the palm fruit, explain how it's picked and what every-day life is like for the workers among the palm fields.

After a half-hour ride, you arrive at Canopy's Safari's base camp where breakfast is waiting if you take the morning tour, or lunch when you get back if you take the afternoon tour. After gearing up, guides will give you basic instructions before you head out into the rainforest.

The canopy tour features 10 zip lines- the longest stretches more than 500 feet - through the primary and secondary rainforest across 18 platforms that stand as high as 130 feet in the air. On the way you'll get to dart across a monkey bridge, Tarzan swing between trees and two complete rappels – one of which drops you a hundred feet to the forest floor. The last of the cables takes you sailing over a river to land back at the base camp.

Butterfly garden & serpentarium

The butterfly garden and serpentarium, included in the price of the tour, lead guests on paths among Costa Rica's flowering plants. Blue morpho and owl butterflies sail overhead flying in their drunken swagger while five of Costa Rica's other butterfly species dart to and fro looking for pollen. The path leads you through the garden and down to a lower level of glass terrariums where you'll encounter eight different species of snakes including the boa constrictor, oriole snake, bushmaster, fer-de-lance and the side-striped palm pit viper.
